TEACHING EXPERIENCE

 

Jennifer Shannon has been teaching the flute for over 15 years. Her goal is to make her student's lessons fun, engaging, and informative. Lessons take place in her home studio located in Beaumont, Texas, virtually, and in contracted schools from around the area. Her studio boasts 20 talented young musicians including Texas All Region, All Area, All State Band Members, and UIL Superior rated flutists. Former students have attended the University of Texas, the Conservatory of Music and Dace at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Baylor University, University of Houston, Stephen F. Austin State University, Lamar University, University of Oregon, and Southeast Missouri State University for degrees in music. 

 

Students of all ages and levels of proficiency are welcome! She is also available for masterclasses, sectional/ensemble coaching, region band judging, solo & ensemble judging, competition judging, single lessons (ie, play region music or UIL solo), & other related events. 

 

For a spot in Mrs. Shannon's studio either in person or virtual, students will take weekly lessons throughout the semester with regular assigned times. Payment is due at the beginning of each lesson and will not be taught if payment has not be received. *Lesson rates upon request. 

 

Students are expected to have their flute in good working condition at every lesson. A metronome and tuner are also required to take flute lessons. Additional music and materials may be required. 

 

Cancellations:

Registration for private lessons is an agreement between the student and the teacher to commit to the scheduled weekly lesson time. Lessons may be rescheduled in the event of a school conflict (with a minimum of 24 hour notice), illness, or inclement weather. Make ups should be scheduled at the time of the cancellation. Make up lessons will be offered for any lessons that the teacher cancels. There will be no refunds for missed lessons or unexcused absences. If cancelation occurs without notice, the student WILL be charged for that lesson. 

Mrs. Shannon has the right to terminate any student that does not meet her expectations and standards. Grounds for termination: the student consistently cancels or reschedules their lesson, the student does not practice and prepare their assigned music, and/or the student's behavior is rude and disrespectful.
